Destination of Love

Destination of Love

You drew me on a road map

And then you took a victory lap

I was the prize at the finish

A love you said would never diminish

The path we’ve walked has been rough

But you claim it’s always been enough

Clinging to love isn’t the answer

It’s possession that creates a cancer

Destination of love is something many boast

Destination of love is the prize we want most

It isn’t me you really want

It’s the prize at the end you hunt

Love is not a destination

It’s been here through all of creation

Why do we cling and we cry

For something that’s always nearby

Destination of love is something many boast

Destination of love is the prize we want most
