Consciousness is the Core of Humanity

Several years ago, I wrote and self-published a quirky little satire about the end of the world. Yes, a comedy. The story was about a heart-centered, doe-eyed supermodel who saves the planet after an ecological disaster.

The premise: A series of environmental catastrophes rock the planet off its axis and thus halting Earth’s rotation. The planet is stuck. My main character, with the help of a disgraced scientist travels the world to find like-minded souls to restart the earth. Crazy huh?

The problem I ran into as a writer, was how do I solve this problem. How do I, a mere writer, save the planet from ecological disaster and start the Earth spinning again?

After meditating on it, and hint – meditating – I came up with the answer: Human Consciousness.

The quote came to me fairly easily:

Consciousness is the core of humanity. It can be a curse or it can be a cure. Only humanity can decide how to break the curse and be the cure.

So, how do we break the curse created by our culture? And it’s not just our leaders to blame. It’s not the media’s fault for not reporting it. It is all our faults. It is our collective human consciousness at fault. Collectively, we are all to blame.

One may be thinking, it is not me. I recycle. I don’t eat meat. I don’t drive a car. Yes, we can do all the “right” things but not be in a helpful consciousness state. We may still be in a blame-game state and a thought process of judgment and division. This doesn’t help. The state of the world is a direct correlation to the actions and thoughts of all us.

No doubt humanity is at a crossroads. We simply cannot carry on as we are, which means not just drastic changes to lifestyle, but changing our consciousness and our conscience.

After giving study to ancient Celtic shamanism, I often wonder what a society who lived so in touch with nature would think of our modern world. They would think WE are crazy. They would feel sad as how we are disrespecting the natural world, as would many indigenous people.

However, this brought me to believe that today’s society is not just a product of modern conditioning, but thousands of years of ancestral and genetic trauma. Our instincts and reactions are still as primitive if not more so and one way to evolve beyond it is a global karmic cleanse. I know, sounds new-age whacky, but put some thought to it. Imagine a world, where the masses do not suffer from thousands of years of genetic traumas.

Deep within our root and dormant in our DNA is ancestral pain – wars, plagues, feudal abuses, religious persecutions and of course past environmental disasters. Today, we are the living embodiment of it all, and it seems to me, this is coming to a precipice. These thoughts and feelings arise as anger, intense fear, distrust of governments and media. It is all just bubbling up.

Humanity is in need of a deep genetic cleanse and evolution. Fast. No time to waste.

How to do this, if the majority don’t see it?

It starts with responsibility and not necessarily getting out to protest or donate to charity. We don’t need to share social media memes expressing our angst at the world. We need to take responsibility with our own individual evolution. We need to understand, the world is a result of us and others like us and the way to change it, is to change ourselves, no matter how awesome we think we are.

Currently, our collective consciousness is absorbed in fear and distrust. This must change. It gets us nowhere. Consciousness needs to shift to solutions, because regardless of have grave the situation, there is always, always a solution. Be it.

Be leaders on our own journeys. No one has all the answers, as there are many. Many answers. Many solutions. When we have the courage to follow our own path, and not the influencers paying for your attention, we discover the truth of our own consciousness. We are all here for a different purpose, to have different perspectives. The collective collaborates, not isolates.

We are not here to mainly embolden others, but to embolden ourselves so we can be in service to the whole. This conscious collective is not about collecting followers, nor is it about following, it is about unity. It is about following and leading at the same time. It is about us all walking together.

What we can expect is great change and in many cases a decline in our comforts. Turn off the television, and social media to meditate, be in nature and read. Grow and cook our own food because at some point, food may become a scarcity. We, as humans, will need to get back to basic living skills instead of depending on modern conveniences.

Pura Vida, the simple life will not be a novel choice but a necessity. Start now.
We can overcome these grave circumstances and it will take more than a village, it will take a shift in global human consciousness, which starts with us.
